Hope For Paws rescue workers Lisa Chiarelli and Eldad Hagar received a notification about a homeless mama dog that needed help. The person who called said the dog recently gave birth to three puppies. Without a home, she found refuge in a college campus and hid her babies in a narrow ditch inside the school.
Once at the scene, Lisa and Eldad approached slowly. They didn’t want to spook the mama dog, but the pup immediately spotted them and ran away. The rescuers checked where the puppies were, but they decided to leave right after they found them. They waited at a safe distance until the mama dog returned.
When the mother dog came back, Lisa and Eldad sprang into action and caught the animal with a net. The pup struggled and fought at first. But within a few minutes, she calmed down.
Lisa sat down with the mom while Eldad brought the puppies to their mother, one by one. The mama dog, named Dottie, had two boys and a girl. Eldad and Lisa named them Timon, Pumba, and Ivy.
Timon and Pumba seemed fine, but Ivy looked a little different. Her head is bigger compared to her siblings. She could barely open her eyes, too.
The rescuers rushed the furry family to the hospital for medical care. The vets confirmed Eldad’s suspicion. Ivy had hydrocephalus, and it was severe. The poor baby was in agonizing pain, so the rescuers had no choice but to put her to sleep. Heartbroken, Dottie snuggled with her little girl one last time.
Later on, Eldad and Lisa took Dottie, Pumba, and Timon to their foster home. Dottie missed Ivy so much, but she did a great job raising her two boys. Eight weeks later, the little family was ready for their forever homes.
Dottie, Timon, and Pumba thrived in their foster homes. Doggies 911 offered to handle their adoption and promised to provide them nothing but the best possible family they could find. In no time, they all found their perfect matches.
