Being a police officer comes with its own set of dangers. It’s part of the job.
K9 officer Arlo was more than happy to take the risk. He loved serving alongside the other police officers.
Arlo got shot twice by the person that they were trying to apprehend on one of their missions. One of the bullets hit his spine. He was immediately brought to the emergency vet clinic.
There, he underwent multiple operations. They had to do surgery to get the bullies out of his body. Every police officer, especially his handler Deputy Turpin was very worried about him.
They were thankful when after a couple of weeks, he was finally discharged from the hospital. He still had to recover from his multiple operations, but it was good for everyone to see him get released. As he walked out the hospital door, he got a police escort on his way home.
Everyone wanted to make him feel special. When Arlo arrived, he was given a hero’s welcome.
Everyone from the police department was there to welcome one of the bravest dogs that they ever had. They wanted to show Arlo how much they appreciated him. All of them showed up for him, especially his handler, who never left his side during his hospital stay.
During his surgeries, his handler, Deputy Turpin, was always there waiting for him. He never wanted to leave his brave dog alone. He also wanted to make sure that he was comfortable after his hospital stay.
To make Arlo even more comfortable, he went home with Deputy Turpin. He stayed with him until he got better. Everyone was just proud and amazed by this dog, who went through a lot. He deserved the honor that they showed him.
They also raised money for him. They raised a total of $73,000 to help with his treatment and rehabilitation. This showed how much people appreciated his bravery and his service.
