When a dog is not regularly taken out for walks, two things can happen. They either develop a destructive chewing habit, or they defecate all over the house. In the worst-case scenario, a dog may do a combination of both. Dog poop problems occur.
The professional dog trainer Victoria Stilwell handled two small dogs turning an entire house into their personal bathroom. It was one of the most unhygienic houses she has ever visited. There were pee stains all over the carpet and also some dog poop in the bedrooms.
Victoria warned the family that dog feces is a major health concern. If their place remains dirty, many things can get contaminated, and the children’s health is at risk. She even brought a fluorescent black light to show the family how much fluids are actually on the carpet.
Once the family saw how severe their problem was, Victoria began executing the solutions. First, she worked with the family to clean every part of the house that had remnants of urine and feces.
After the general cleaning, the trainer worked on crate training the dogs. Victoria said that dogs don’t generally defecate in places where they sleep. This is why it’s important to keep them inside crates until they need to go out for a walk.
The family worked together to practice what Victoria had taught them after she left. The two dogs were both kept in crates while the family was outside. When they arrived back home, they were brought out so they can do their business.
Everything went just as Victoria had predicted. While inside the crates, the dogs were holding in their bodily wastes. Only when they went outside were they able to release them. Dog poop problems gone.
The family soon moved to a new home. They continued to practice the methods that Victoria taught. So far, it had never failed them.
