A FIGHT FOR HIS LIFE
Holden was first seized by the police before he was sent to a kill shelter. He was a very skinny dog and his former owner also said that he looked so old, like dirt.
When foster mom Melissa first saw him, he looked so sad and defeated and she felt that she had to rescue him. Melissa worked with Releash Atlanta, a volunteer-run licensed charitable organization that saves dogs.
SAD AND DEFEATED
She took Holden to a vet where they did x-rays and found out that he had a seven-pound tumor attached to his spleen. And that was definitely the main reason why he had trouble breathing. They were not so sure if he would survive surgery as he was so skinny and emaciated but thankfully he did. The spleen and the tumor were removed and the tumor turned out to be benign.
AMAZINGLY SURVIVED SURGERY
Over the course of her life, Melissa had already fostered over 500 dogs. And at that time, she had around 15 dogs in the household ready to meet Holden. When she introduced him to everyone, he got along well with them pretty quickly. He also easily became friends with Melissa’s three-year-old daughter and her husband.
HOLDEN’S TEMPORARY HOMEĀ
As for Holden’s possible adoptive parents, Melissa was looking for someone who had the time and attention to really invest in him. After three weeks, Holden was doing better and out to meet his potential mom Carole. Carole had a lab mix named Elway and she had been following Holden’s story so she wanted to meet him.
WELL DESERVED HAPPY ENDING
When they met, it was just a sweet moment when Holden nuzzled into her, asking for attention and a lot of pets. And that was when she knew that she just couldn’t leave Holden so they made the adoption official. Holden did not have a wonderful start and he went through a lot of struggles but he finally found a home and ready to get his new beginning.
