Having a large dog is sometimes a handful. That’s why some people prefer to have smaller breeds as pets, such as the Jack Russell Terrier.
But what will you do if you find out that the dog you took home is not as small as you wanted it to be? See how a couple in Lincolnshire, England, handled one of the most epic events in their lives.
One of those people who prefer smaller dogs is Robert Markham, husband of Sue Markham. At first, Robert wasn’t a fan of dogs; still, due to Sue’s consistent pursuit to at least have one since they are undeniably adorable, Robert eventually agreed but with a condition. And that was: it must be small or else it’s a no!
Immediately, Sue went to the local shelter where she first met Yogi, a Jack Russell Terrier – or so they thought.
Yogi was tiny when his fur parents first found him. But as time went by, the little pup that only weighed 1 pound gradually changed into a giant pooch and currently weighs 200 pounds. And how is that even possible for a Jack Russel terrier?
It turned out that Sue has a little secret. Yogi is actually a Boston Great Dane! Fortunately, before Robert found out the truth behind Yogi’s real identity, he already fell so in love with him that it didn’t matter anymore whether his condition is met or not.
Since Yogi is indeed a large breed, he has his own couch where he can watch TV. Take note that no one can sit on it unless it is Toffee, the female cat who always comes to Markham’s house.
In an interview, Sue once said that they were the ones who named Toffee when they noticed she often visits Yogi. They witnessed how gentle Yogi is when it comes to little creatures like Toffee. They even sleep together and curl up; it’s like Yogi has his own pet too!
Yogi is now nine years old and has a tail the same size as a baseball bat. He also has a height of 6’11 ft. like a basketball player. And during winter, he wears a coat made for horses — what a real giant!
