Liam, a seven-year-old boy and his pup named Sully were inseparable. Liam was a pediatric brain tumor patient, so he needed comfort from his therapy dog. The one-year-old Bernedoodle would always lie beside Liam to calm him.
But one day, Sully went missing. Liam and his family were sad and brokenhearted. They were scared of the possibility that the dog wouldn’t make his way back home. Liam’s mom, Laura Holland, knew she had to do something, so she started posting about the dog’s disappearance online.
And the people she needed help from showed up
Everybody is looking for Sully
Sully got lost after being dropped at a pet groomer in Wesley Chapel, Florida. From there, he went missing in a wooded area, which made Laura terrified, knowing that the woods in the Florida state could be dangerous.
Laura shared essential details about Sully online, and to her surprise, community members got in touch with her to help with the search. She also managed to work with some professional trappers to help her catch the dog.
To get to Sully, the family used the pup’s urine, and it worked. The dog returned to the same spot where he ran off. But the dog disappeared again after someone tried to get him.
However, a driver was able to stop and capture the dog. When the man walked to Laura with Sully in his arms, she said it was like in the movies.
Sully makes it home
When Sully made it home, he was more than happy. It seemed he couldn’t sit still and Laura tried to calm him down. But the happiest person was Liam.
Thankfully, Sully was healthy for the most part. But he had experienced dehydration, and his paws were burned, so he had to be taken to the veterinarian.
Laura couldn’t seem to thank enough everyone who helped. To repay the driver who caught Sully, she had started a GoFundMe page for him.
