Love At First Sight
A lot of people would often buy dogs instead of adopting them from shelters. Shelter dogs can be beautiful and just as loveable as dogs bought from a store or from a private seller. And when a person decides to rescue a pooch, they are also saving the life of another pup because they’ve opened up a vacant slot at the shelter.
Joel Carpenter, a 23-year-old man, was looking through an adoption site for homeless animals. He saw a beautiful Collie-Husky mix named Sadie, immediately fell in love with the doggo, and decided to adopt her. However, there were a lot of problems that came his way.
Joel only had enough money to get to Minneapolis, Minnesota where Sadie was living in the shelter. He didn’t have any more left to go back to his home in Portland. However, Joel still went ahead and bought a $300 ticket to finally meet Sadie.
A Journey Of Love
This left Joel broke and he was forced to walk 1500 miles together with Sadie. Although it’s gonna be a long way ahead, Joel believes that everything was worth it to rescue Sadie. The pooch was a very friendly and charming dog.
When the two got to Detroit, they met Inside Edition producer Lara Yunaska. Joel and Sadie had been traveling for seven days and still had 800 miles to go. Inside Edition then decided to help them out by buying them a dog carrier, and bringing Sadie to the vet to get her shots.
Selfless Love Rewarded
But the surprises still don’t stop there. Inside Edition also bought Joel and Sadie tickets to fly back home to Portland. Finally, the two wouldn’t have to walk 800 miles to get there. It has been a very long and tiring journey for them and they couldn’t wait to see their family.
Joel didn’t have much to spare and actually went broke just to rescue a dog. But it didn’t take him any second-guessing about saving Sadie from the shelter. Now, this amazing doggo finally has a place to call home.
