Among the most awesome things about going to the airport and flying is seeing the dogs of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at work. They are serious about their jobs, and that makes them cute.
One of TSA dog heroes named TTirado just retired after proudly serving the department for eight years. And before he retired, he was given one last bag search that had some spectacular surprises inside. Luckily, his colleagues captured the surprise on video.
TTirado’s last bag search
The TSA Regional Spokesperson named Mark Howell shared TTirado’s last bag search on Twitter with a caption honoring the dog.
TTirado’s career with TSA started in 2012 when he graduated from the third class of screening dogs. The pup’s training took place at Lackland Air Force Base located in San Antonio, Texas. He was even one of the agency’s longest-serving dog employees.
As a surprise, TTirado was called to inspect the bag. And when he went to the bag, lots of yellow balls fell down, which thrilled the dog. TTirado was then seen running after the balls – a very happy retirement indeed.
Twitter had a great day upon seeing TTirado’s retirement video. People were also congratulating him. His video of last bag search had collected more than 1,000,000 views.
About TTirado’s name
TTirado would spend his retirement getting treats and cuddles with his forever family. His handler Keith Gray adopted him.
If you are quite curious about the dog’s name, you are not seeing a typographical error. TTirado was his real name.
The pooch was named in honor of a firefighter in New York named Hector Luis Tirado, Jr. Dogs that were named after fallen heroes were given the distinction of a double first letter in their name. In TTirado’s case, he carried out a legacy diligently and worked hard to keep the country safe.
